I am listening to
If we aren’t seeing eye to eye with God, there is a good chance His eyes aren’t the ones closed.
Former lesbian spoken word artist Jackie Hill shares her Christian testimony of overcoming homosexuality in light of Macklemore’s hit record “Same Love.”
This is where I think much of the ‘gay rights movement’ isn’t tolerant enough, it doesn’t seem able to accommodate stories like these. I thank God for Jackie. She is putting her story out there, putting herself in the public eye, at the risk of condemnation from the mouths of many people whose lifestyle requires them to ignore that people like her exist.
However, as I reflect on this, her story features the same God who features in mine. He is the same God who loves me enough to tell me when I am living wrong. I praise Him that he doesn’t say its ok for me to look at porn simply because I have a desire to, and I thank God that he doesn’t say it is ok for Jackie to live as a lesbian simply because she has a desire to.
He calls us to a better life, a life trusting Jesus, who died for our sins and rose to give us a new start, everyday.
God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself because it is not there. There is no such thing.
